After just over 5 years of research, on July 22, 2022, I defended my PhD Thesis, "auxVSD: Auxetic Ventricular Support Device for Treatment of Heart Failure Induced by Myocardial Infarction". Looking at how the mechanics of the heart degrade following heart attacks, the project goal has been to develop new materials that can be used to not only repair the heart muscle, but also restore some of its lost function.
If you weren’t able to catch the public defense that day, you can find a recording of the session below. Once the final written thesis is deposited at the Mount Sinai library, you’ll also be able to find a copy of the written thesis here.
Lastly, this project hasn’t ended with my thesis defense, so stay tuned for future updates on this and related work!
